About Otogi

Otogi Records is an independent label born from Japan’s psychedelic trance scene. At its roots is YUYA, who has been active as a DJ since 2007, experiencing dance floors across Japan and around the world, from Tokyo’s underground scene to international gatherings. For Otogi Records, it has never been only about releasing music. It is about bringing people together, sharing sound, and creating moments that can exist only in that particular place and time. This philosophy has taken shape through years of parties, encounters, and journeys. In 2017, SPECTRA SONICS and YUYA launched the project Majide. Combining a distinctly Japanese sense of humor, an open-minded creative approach, and psychedelic sound deeply rooted in the dance floor, Majide expanded its activities beyond Japan, performing at festivals including Shankra Festival and O.Z.O.R.A. Festival. In 2022, Majide released their first album, *Step into the Music*, through Otogi Records. That same year, the label released *Liquid Neuro* by U-Grid, the project of Prohecht and Noise Gust. These releases helped define the direction Otogi Records continues to follow today: bringing together artists with distinct identities and giving their music a shared home without forcing it into a single mold. Since then, artists including Natural Frequency have joined the label, and the sound of Otogi Records has continued to evolve and expand without being confined to any one style. Through events such as Otogi Camp and OTOGI BOX, the label also focuses on creating experiences that extend beyond music itself. Sound systems, visuals, spatial design, nature, and the people who gather there all become part of the experience. Creating these environments is another essential part of what Otogi Records does. The name “Otogi” does not represent a single, finished story. It is about bringing together different perspectives and backgrounds, allowing individual sounds to intersect and transform into landscapes we have never seen before. A world that exists just beside reality — a little strange, a little playful, and sometimes reaching deep into the inner edges of consciousness. **Different minds. Shared frequency.** Beyond sound. Beyond people. Into what comes next. Otogi Records continues to search for the new stories born from there.
